I am the Mother of One, Bearer of Healing, Coach of Transformation, Educator of Mental Healthcare…see where I’m going with this? (where are my Game of Thrones fans?)
The name I was given at birth is Gabrielle. I was taught that it means “Strength of God”. On many occasions, I’ve wondered if it was the sole reason I have endured so much mayhem in my life. I know firsthand what it is like to live as a silent sufferer because of a stigma that society has placed within a single community.
I have experienced love, loss, but I’ve also experienced life thru the magical power of emotional healing and spiritual rehabilitation, which impacts us psychologically. My focus is Mental Health education in our communities, and helping to heal generational trauma in the Black Family.
On paper, I have over 10 years of experience in the Human Services field. I received my undergraduate degree in Counseling Psychology at Bethune Cookman University in 2017, and am completing my MSW at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. I will continue my journey thru the pursuit of my doctoral degree in Behavioral Health Science in 2019.
Understanding the impact trauma can have on our psychological well-being, and the havoc it can wreak on families, my line of work is of the utmost importance. I may not change the entire world all at once on my own, but I am going to be the rock that creates the ripple.
